It works well for what I need it to do which is make copies of id when there is not a copy machine available.

I like that it is small and portable and does not need batteries or an additional power source.

I am slightly confused by the button on top however as nothing has ever happened when I pressed it. Instead the scanner just works when i stick something in it.

I work for a company that uses the heck out of these scanners. I can say, sometimes they have issues, but it is rare. Its usually something silly like plug the USB cable in all the way or occasionally reinstall it. The scan quality is pretty good and as important, the long term stability on these have proven their value. There is so much junk thats for sale that just brakes. These little guys have withstood so much abuse and use over years…. and happily keep going with minor care. Im impressed with the build quality. The other reviewer made me laugh because I never used the button either. Its probably used dependent on the application being associated with it.

I give it 4 stars because its not perfect. Will it do a good job for you? Yes. Experience speaking- If there is a problem with it, most likely you are doing something wrong. I think you would be making a good choice here. If I had to buy a card scanner, this would be a likely candidate as I know and trust it.

Purchased this device to scan ID cards into our banking system. It works well. Images are good, it reads the barcodes perfectly. The only complaint I have is the sensor sees the ID being inserted doesn’t always see the card and thus doesn’t pull the card in every time.
