Better than other reviews state,
I bought this fingerprint reader because I have multiple passwords that I use all day long at
my work. The reviews I read are not a fair representation of the product. I have found it easy to use. The reader does not come with a software bundle, but UPEK will give it to you free with proof of purchase.
Just download the free trial software and email your proof of purchase and serial number in. Upek will send you a digital key to unlock the full use of the software.
I find the reader reliable and it recognizes my fingerprint with the first swipe at least 90% of the time. I’ve also used Digital Persona on another computer, which I like a little better, but the programs are both reliable. If you have multiple passwords and are required to sign in to web sites a lot, this item will save you time and keystrokes. The software will also store other information like credit cards and personal information, and, if you need it, can automatically generate complex high security passwords that you could never memorize. Similar products are priced well over $100 and, this item is offered at a fantastic discount. You could do a lot worse for $25! This is not a toy. I would have given five stars for the product except that you do have the little bit of hassle for the software. Considering the price, it was worth the trouble.

|Very convienant,
This Eikon Solo (at time of this post $24.99) is very convenient. I am able to log into windows or websites with the swipe of any of my fingers. I’ve never used a biometric reader before (I’ve always wanted one though), and it took some getting use to. You have to press down while you swipe your finger. Not real hard, but steady pressure. Once you do it a few times, it becomes instinct and is very easy to use. You can register all 10 of your fingers, and when setup the device to launch different websites, folders, or programs just by swiping one of your 10 fingers that you have assigned the action to. Unlike the regular Eikon biometric scanner (at time of this post $45), this device is made for 1 single user, so you can only register 10 fingers. Also, you are unable to (at least to my knowledge) protect folders with this device. I suppose this is because this device is made for a single user, hence the name Eikon Solo. These were not issues for me personally, as I was aware of this prior to ordering the item. My 5 year old son also has a profile on my desktop, but I wouldn’t want him to be able to just swipe his finger to log in anytime he wants. He is only allowed to use it on occasions, offline, for child development games. So again, I only needed the Solo version. And for $25, it makes life so much easier. I am a Computer Science student, so I constantly use my computer. This device allows me to log in effortlessly, and eliminates the redundancy of constantly typing website passwords. Swiping a finger is far less of a hassle than typing a password every time I want to log into the multiple websites I am associated with. If you need the features of what I described above, then buy this device and you won’t be disappointed. For $24.99 you can’t go wrong! 2 thumbs up!
Edit: After having the product for about a week now, it is so convenient. Not having to sign into Windows or websites is a delight. A must have for intensive users.

|Difficult to install and VERY difficult to get working properly.,
This finger print reader was VERY difficult for me to install on my Windows 7 64 bit Desktop computer. I have 20 years of experience installing various software. Everything seemed to go well until I tried to use the device. Some of the features such as logging into windows by using the device didn’t work. I had to spend hours getting the bugs worked out. Customer service is nearly non-existent. The “truesuite” software is poorly constructed and difficult to use. The terms used in the software are so cryptic that it appears that it was a situation where translating from a different language didn’t work well, but I can’t be sure. The device seems to be working correctly now. One other note: You must purchase an upgrade to use the option in the software where you can secure a file folder so that it can only be accessed with your finger swipe. I do not recommend this product unless you are very patient with installation and working the bugs out.
